Its finally a warm day in Boston

I’m a product of my hometown, and we finally, finally have a Black woman mayor in this tired old city. I wrote this today, during Mayor Kim Janey’s innauguration. CW: reference to police brutality/state violence

I fall asleep mid-afternoon
My tired, injured brain
Once bled on state street
In front of city hall
And now i fall asleep mid-day and
dream in poetry fragments
With very few words
Though words were…
